She Did It First :)

So....you guessed it. Miss Kaydence blogged yet again. This one was I suppose indirectly about me. She spoke of how the date went, the opera itself and all that jazz....and well.. I just felt like blogging about it again.

For those of you who have been reading her blog to see what she's written..here's my side of the story. Date's are awkward anyways, especially when the girl is trying to get back with her ex :) Here the guy is, after paying for the date (whatever it might have been) wanting to have a practical conversation with a girl...pulling every trick he knows out of unheard of places :) just to get to know the girl without seeming overzealous. Well...mission failed. Don't get me wrong she was a great sport about the whole thing. Like she said she really enjoyed the opera as did I. It has definitely climbed its way up my opera charts (which isn't to far if you need to know.) So yes, the opera was great, we kinda sorta talked during the various intermissions...as well as casual conversations with what seemed like every married, returned missionary couple around us.

After the opera the date got a little more relaxed. We stopped at a Wendy's on the way home which turned out to be the best part of the date. All of us were a little hungry so we decided to get some food...only place open was Wendy's so don't judge. Anyways, we all decide on what we want to order after being asked 4 times by the box (with women's spanish accent) "Are you ready yet?" Finally we were so I began with my order, "I'm sorry we don't have that right now..you can have a ..." I complied with the boxes' request to choose another order, whereupon another person from the car ordered. "I'm sorry we don't have that right now." Okay we kinda snickered at that. The third person ordered with the same response. Needless to say we kinda died laughing to which the box responds, "I'm sorry what do you find so funny?" (little bit of attitude added). Anyways I proceeded to be nice and tell her we were sorry, and that it was just late.

Well they decided to play a little game on us. We rolled up to the second window, where they gave us our drinks and told us to roll back to the first window because the fries would take a moment. Well 3 or 4 cars drove past us getting there bags of food that apparently didn't have fries in it wink wink, nod nod. We were dying this whole time about the situation and it was not until this point that I really felt Kaydence relaxed and could just act like herself.

Anyways...long story short, my roommates and I have used her blog to update ourselves and needless to say she is officially not getting back with her boyfriend :) Good news? Eh...I'm not so sure...we'll see what happens in the future. So...onward I go. Regrets..absolutely not. She was very polite in everything she did and I wish the best for her. Besides, I think she has another boy in mind anyways :)

Rome Temple!!!!

Okay I really can't be too excited about this but here it is. Saturday the ground breaking ceremony occurred in Rome Italy for the Temple that was announced in October 2008. I remember being in Italy when they announced the temple. We were late to the church it was being broadcast at in Modena because we were talking to people on the way. Something we called Dieci Inviti our goal to talk to 10 extra people a day. Well we walked in the building and opened the door of the room the English broadcast was in literally the second after President Monson announced the Temple.

From that moment one, there were whispers on the progress of the temple in Italy. It was one signature after another, jumping over one hurdle after another. Well wait no longer. The beauty of the Rome Italy temple was projected in this film released on Saturday.

Some of my favorite parts of the temple is (1) That the temple is more modern than Italian. I feel like if it was Italian-esque, it would look too Catholic. I'm glad its just elegant. (2) I'm glad there is a piazza....it fits the Italian lifestyle and (3) There will be a Family History Center and Visitor's Center. I mean that is so cool for the Italians. It will be SUCH a missionary tool for the members there. I am TOTALLY going as well. I figured I should save about 75 bucks per month and I should be ready for myself and my wife :)

Oh This is Too Good :)

Alright,

To start out, sometime soon I will be blogging about what to do and not to do on dates. I feel like I have a good understanding (and experience) of socially accepted and non-accepted dating strategies. So back to the reason I decided to blog today:

She blogged about me again :) Bhahahahahahahahha. Really this is killing me. Can't say I didn't want her too :) It has somehow elevated the level of difficulty in this dating game.

MWHAHAHAHA

Giving you a bit of background on me. I'm not your average guy. I enjoy theatre, music, dance, art, games, literature, etc. Yes, I play sports, mostly soccer, volleyball, etc. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm not your average football watching, halo playing, grunting, buff guy. Anyways, when I found out she had mentioned me on her blog, I had to check it out. One thing lead to another and I decided to get to know her a little better before this date.

Beauty pageant winner, aspiring actress, recently broken off from a very wonderful guy, crazy fun girl. Well one thing lead to another and I found out from her roommates that she was planning on getting back with her Ex :) teehehehehe. The levels just keep getting harder and harder and I am just loving it. So I'm thinkin, "Alright, here I have this really wonderful girl who has agreed to go on two dates with me. She has a blog in which she writes off and on about me, and an Ex she wants to get back with. How much more fun can this get."

I wanted to impress her on the date and according to the blog, to her surprise, I did :) A little side note: The first date with someone you really want to get to know but really don't know initially, can be rather ...well awkward. Especially when it is just you and her. And EsPeCiAlLy when she is probably thinking about her other relationships.

I had that sort of a vibe on the date. Like she wasn't really terribly interested in getting to know me. So here I am trying to strike up conversation but not be too question-machine-gun-esque. I felt like she was naturally not showing to much interest, I got one or two good conversations out of her but it was definitely difficult. (I'm probably the one who needs to improve on the social skills but anyways..)

The date went pretty well. I mean, I'm a nice guy right? Anyways, we ended it and that was that. Secretly at this point, I am just waiting for her/hoping she will blog about it. Low and behold the blog went up today. And it turned very nice. (Like she would do anything else, she's just too nice not to.) Now, I'm pretty sure she still wants to get back with her man (which is absolutely fine by me) but in the meantime I enjoy hanging out with her.

I Didn't Wanna Doit...

It wasn't my intention to do this but...that's just me. I gotta do it. I gotta make situations awkward. That's how I live. Honestly I think I socialize and express myself better in awkward situations. Perhaps that is why whenever someone says, "What's your most awkward moment?" I can't think of one.

So. I have been dating around lately, trying to get my group of friends larger than ballroom and the ward :) Anyways, there is much to be discussed there but this is not the place to do such things. Back to the matter of question. There's this girl (we'll call her Kaydence) who I asked to come to the Opera with me. Well this was a few weeks ago and we have yet to go to the Opera (the 20th). I just had to get the tickets early and I know that there are girls few and far between that would think the Opera is a cool date. So I asked Kaydence. In the meantime, I'm thinking to myself, you know what, this is just as bad as going to a movie...I've gotta do something before the Opera to get to know her better. So the other week I ask her what she has going on. We plan to do something the following Saturday (which turns out to be tonight). In the meantime, we are both extra busy with our private lives and school so it was very difficult to find her at home. Finally her roommate gives me her phone number and I try to finalize our time etc.

Well this actually turns into a funny situation as my texts and that of another guy are confused in her phone. Both of us trying to finalize our respective nights with this lovely lady. She decided to blog about it. At the end of which she says that one should not ask girls out via texts, etc etc. Well I couldn't agree more but how she wrote it seemed to diminuize my efforts to try and get a hold of her previously in person.

So I blogged about a blog about me.

I guess that's it. Just thought I'd claim my pride back. :)

Accepted...

A little background...

I have bounced around several majors since I started my college career. When I was first accepted into BYU I was a Pre-Music / MDT (Music Dance Theatre) major. My plan was to have fun in college in classes that I would enjoy, get a minor in business and open theaters across the states...become some sort of a producer. My thought process behind that came from the quote, "The best career choice is something that you could get paid nothing to do." So I figured, I have an excellent eye for a good production. I would do anything to offer my critiques on a show; what needed to be changed, who needed to be fired, etc. (ormai) That dream has long gone.

I served a two year church mission to Italy (more on this later). Two years is quite a bit of time to think about things and in the end although I did not necessarily decide, I did know that I wanted something equally enjoyable...but stable.

So I came back to BYU with ideas like, Business Management and International Relations. I also took a pre-req class for Linguistics. Everything seemed to have a bit of what I liked in it. I guess I was just to interested in everything. So I took a class that was suppose to help me find my major. Well find I did find it. Whether it was because of this class or not I decided to begin the application process for the Communications major with an emphasis in Public Relations.

BYU was named one of the Top 5 in the nation last year for its PR program. Sick right?!?! Anyways, there's this entire application process, classes, papers, tests, interviews, the whole sha-bang. So I decided to forfeit any exciting jobs, internships, travel, or vacation during the summer and I began taking the required classes for application.

I got really nice grades in those classes and therefore, felt confident in my intention to apply to the program. I was nervous. What if I don't make it in? What's my back-up plan? After taking two tests, writing a letter of intent, and much prayer...it was time. Yesterday we were sent an email stating that we were to go to the Communications office and pick up a letter that either stated we were in or out. FREAKY!! So I go after all my classes are done, 3:00, and I give them my name. The secretary hands me my letter and I walk out of her office and RIP it open...skimming it up and down my eyes were racing for something big saying "Yay" or "Nay." Finally I calm myself and I read....

Congratulations.....(blah blah blah)...meeting (blah blah blah) finalize ...etc.

You get the idea. So happy. Now I can say that I have a major! I am so excited for it as well. The major itself is so marketable and the amount of career paths is extensive. So yes, I'm excited. A fairly prestigious college with a fairly prestigious major is not bad at all.

Temple in ROME

Okay many of you probably know this but I just thought I would write it somewhere because it is just that important!

The ground breaking for the Rome Italy temple will be held on October 23rd!!!!! I have attached an email from President Pacini, a former mission president in the Rome, Italy mission.

Dear Elders and Sisters (and our friend s who love Italy),

Today, 10/10/10, throughout the length and breadth of our beloved land of service to the Lord, Italy, an announcement was read to all those present in Church. It indicated that the groundbreaking for the temple in Italy will be held on October 23, 2010. Presiding at that ceremony will be President Thomas S. Monson.

Sister Pacini and I wish to thank each of you once again for your faithfulness during your missions together with your fasting and prayers since that time in behalf of this and other Italian related events. Over the years these acts of devotion, coupled with those of the Saints in Italy, have both permitted the inspiration of heaven to fall upon President Monson in announcing the temple two years ago as well as to miraculously obtaining the permission to build the temple in such a short time from when the plans were submitted to the civil authorities.

We hope that you will generously thank the Lord for His influence and assistance in bringing the construction of His house to this point of beginning. In additional to our prayers of thanksgiving a renewed dedication on our part to live the Gospel to its fullest will certainly be one of the best ways of showing the convictions of our hearts. In a similar vein, to build the faith of both active and less-active members that you know during the next few years will be even more important. Take the opportunity to prayerfully encourage all to be worthy to attend the dedication once it is announced and then to regularly attend the temple to receive those blessings for themselves and their kindred dead. Your encouragement will be most meaningful as now that this work has taken another step forward the adversary will only increase his pace and desire to attack the faithful.

As you will each remember, there is almost no parking on the land selected for the temple site. As a result, the First Presidency has requested that only selected priesthood leaders attend the ground breaking ceremony. To make the proceedings available to all the Italian saints, the ceremony will be taped and rebroadcast to all the chapels in Italy the following day – Sunday October 24th, 2010. Should individuals or groups arrive and create any form of traffic congestion or disruption of public order, our first public event relative to the temple would certainly leave negative feelings towards us and in the worst case could cause even more difficult circumstances now or in the future as permission to hold a temple open house is requested. Given your spiritual maturity, we are confident that not only will each of you abide by the” invitation only request,” but that you will also with great love and tenderness encourage your many friends and Church members in Italy to do the same. We are confident that the Lord is aware of your great love for Italy and your desires and willingness to sacrifice to be there at such a wonderful time. And for those desires each will be blessed even though they are not physically present.

We hope that you will each realize that while this is the first temple in Italy, it will serve the saints in many other nations and will be a blessing to the Italian Republic as well. The Spirit of the Lord has a wonderful effect on all when they are close to it. The eventual linking of families eternally, providing courage to the youth, and having a lovely edifice build to the Lord in the “eternal city” will bring untold blessings and open the way for many more of our brothers and sisters to embrace the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ.

While there was no public indication as to the length of time necessary to build the temple, when the open house might be, design of the temple, or many of the other details, as we hear something public we will share it with each of you.

Some of you may have heard indications of this announcement from a number of other sources recently, as did we. Until the announcement was official and public though, we deferred communicating anything. We desired that the information be correct and more importantly allow the faithful saints in Italy to hear such joyous news from their local priesthood leaders first.

As you now begin to communicate this to those who are near to your hearts please remember that many of those private communications that we choose to make over the Internet at times become public. Please ensure that all that is said and suggested is positive and does not reflect negatively on any one or any group. This is a great opportunity to build bridges and reclaim the souls of those who are wandering.

This announcement comes almost 160 years to the day (19 Sept 1850), from when President Lorenzo Snow by direction of the leadership of the Church officially dedicated Italy for the preaching of the Gospel. As you will remember, he spoke of the day when the “fullness of the Gospel” would be available to all in Italy. While the blessings of heaven have certainly been available to the Italian saints in the Swiss Temple for many years, this step will certainly be in partial fulfillment of President Snow’s prophetic vision those many years ago.
May the Lord bless you always for your service in the Italian part of His vineyard.

With love and appreciation for our association together and prayers for your continued happiness and success,

President and Sister Pacini

Time to Make Things Happen

So I've expressed this opinion to a lot of people lately but I just thought I would get it out there for real now. Right now I am in college. I absolutely love it. True, I am constantly busy and can't remember the last time I took a nap but I still love it. I love that fact that we are able to learn such a broad amount of things. I often am jealous of people in other majors because I think to myself, "You know, that would have been a fun major. I bet I could have been really good at that, had I set my mind to it."

I don't think I'm the only one who thinks this way either. I don't see how anyone could go through college so closed minded as to not appreciate the amount of knowledge there is to gain at such an institution. And then I start thinking, this is the time when big things happen....When all our childish dreams are realized. When we decide to pursue something that seems completely out on a whim and it turns into a life's work. This is when/where all the big ideas are created. STUFF HAPPENS! I guess is what I'm trying to say and its kind of daunting thinking about it.

Am I doing something great right now? Well at least I started a blog. :) But seriously. I want to do all the things I could never do. I want to dream big and make things happen. I want to be important, affect people, change lives, be spontaneous.

Now lets talk about something that is pretty "BYU classic"....marriage...Alright so, make big things happen right? Well, BYU is kind of known as a place where you find your 'eternal companion'. It's funny because just tonight I was driving this girl home and on the way out of the parking lot (and on my way back in afterwards), couples EVERYWHERE!! There was couples underneath in the parking garage, outside in the parking lot literally getting swept off there feet for a nice smoocheroo :)

Time to make Things happen right? Sometimes I do wish that I was married. I don't know if you can go to this school without really experiencing those feelings. So I guess what I'm trying to say is I'm gonna make big things happen. I'm gonna go after the girls that are out of my league. The girls that I actually have childish crushes on. Who knows, maybe someone will fit. I got a lot of quirks. It's gonna be a tough fit to match everything up just right I think.
